At least she got to experience a drastic reduction to hostilities in Ireland. That song did a ton to get focus back on how the western world had a slaughter going on way longer than we'd like to believe.
It was a strange time. What was happening in Northern Ireland didn't get much coverage in the US news but any IRA bombing in London would be all over the TV. I used to fly through London monthly with a long layover so I would go into town to a place I liked to get my hair cut. I happened to be on a street where the IRA had set off a bomb less than a week before. Nobody seemed to even take notice that a shop was just recently bombed out.
Cranberries put focus on what was happening in that part of the world to a new generation of young people. I would say they accomplished much more than most bands and it was punctuated by her voice.

I was never really a Cranberries fan, but she did have an amazing voice. I never knew the political side of the band and what they did to get global attention to the situation in Ireland. So sad to see another troubled musician passed, no doubt from either drugs or suicide.

I just read that she had ongoing back problems so there is the chance that good old prescription pills can be related.

“Linger” in the movie Click w Adam Sandler always gets me
Lazy K used to do a rendition of Zombie back when they played the fraternity house circuit. Some of the fondest memories was throwing beer and moshing once the buildup to zombie dropped

Reading up on the IRA is incredibly interesting. It's baffles me that it isn't a bigger part of what we learn about.

She was a really talented singer. Very unique style coupled with her accent. I always listen to her singing some Fleetwood Mac
You Can Go Your Own Way
She always was cute to me and had that accent. Makes me regret I haven't bagged an Irish woman

I met her on her tour bus in Houston circa-1994 while living in Texas. My sister had gone to college with a cool guitarist guy who toured as a hired gun with the band The The that year, opening for the Cranberries (or vice-versa). He was banging her during the tour. Thus, I got tickets and met them before the show, driving in from Austin. As I recall, she was very outgoing and very Irish.

Death being reported as suicide, though police deny it.

Dolores O’Riordan, the 46-year-old lead singer of Irish rock band the Cranberries, died of Fentanyl poisoning in an apparent suicide, the Santa Monica Observer is reporting.
Citing an anonymous source within the London Police Department, the Southern California newspaper claims that counterfeit Fentanyl was found near the singer’s bed. Further, the source claims that O’Riordan deliberately overdosed in an attempt to commit suicide.
However, a police spokesperson told NBC News that, “Her death is not being treated as suspicious.”

O’Riordan had been known to battle mental health issues and addiction for decades. According to People, she had been sexually abused over a period of several years as a child and often suffered “flashbacks” to her abuse.

Talk about an absolute tragedy. Cranberries were a distinct part of my formative years.
May we always remember
Not ashamed this performance was a tear jerker.

Anybody that could play guitar with The The had to be damned good.
