re: The COVID pandemic was the dumbest thing I’ve ever experienced.

We don’t have documentaries about the crazy “first days of COVID.”

Ok the ruling and outcome are still what matter here, I’m sure if I wanted to I could cherrypick cases that are parallel in the US

You think we arrest politicians for saying things that offend people? Good luck finding a parallel case, although those on the political left in this country surely think we should.

Real bastion of free speech there.

Oh you poor dumb bastard - if you took time to read my first posts and possessed a shred of intelligence and reading comprehension you might have been able to infer that I agree with the OP - my point was there was a lot of anti-lockdown and anti-mask, etc. sentiment and civil unrest here in the Netherlands and that such feelings and vocal demonstrations were in no way unique to the US, as was stupidly suggested in this thread - but got so triggered by your - mY mErIca iS nUmbuRR oNe - that at the slightest deviation from kissing the red white and blue ring - you jumped into rabid frothing at the mouth attack-mode!
So let me spell it out for you - frick the pandemic, frick Fauci, frick the lockdowns, frick the chin diapers.
But perhaps most of all, frick ignorant arse people, that really are so deluded into this American exceptionalism.
I often go to the mat for my country against foreigners talking shite, but people like you that are so embarrassing make me wonder who the frick I’m vouching for and why?!

Trump’s charges alone contain plenty of parallels and pretending otherwise is you sticking your head in the sand to claim some baseless argumentary victory
To be clear I’m not expressing my opinion on the charges or trials just the fact that charges were levied to begin with.

I am just glad the Chinese aren't great at biochemical weapons. If it had been a USA or Russia lab we would probably all be dead.

And we are still dealing with the inflation from it.

I’m not arguing that it wasn’t stupid and overblown. But also know that many loved the low key life. Working from home, no silly activities, no child’s sports, just hanging out. I would bet if something similar occurred we would see a large portion love it

I’ll say ONE good thing about Covid,
I was classified an essential worker. Went back and forth to work on the interstate. For months I could go 100+ mph with zero traffic and zero cops. Cops were afraid to or told not to intact or stop people. Whatever the reason it was complete freedom to drive as fast as you want. That was pretty awesome.

It was beyond stupid. Thinking a paper mask stops a virus? Closing parks? fricking retarded.

You really needed an N95. Preferably a N100. Nowhere near enough to go around. It was a lie the shitty low grade masks would help in order to prevent panic.
Let’s also not forget nothing was said about the virus going in your eyes or ears. A convenient truth left out to avoid panic.
I don’t think they would tell us a huge planet killing asteroid would hit earth if they found one.

When I sit back and think about the covid era it makes me irrationally angry. I think part of my mind thinks it wasn't real because it was so ludicrous

I see it as a dress rehearsal for authoritarianism. The elites were going to find out exactly how much control the public would tolerate. They made the wrong bet, and now people are coming back to their senses.
And the leftist bent over like sheep and defended everything.
I had so many ‘conversations’ with school administrators after my kid had to stay home for 5 days b/c he was in a contact zone with a positive case, even though he had no symptoms and was negative but likewise was told he didn’t have to miss any days only if he was vaxxed. So he could be positive for Covid but if vaxxed he could go back and not miss days.
Same thing on flights, you’d get kicked off if not wearing a mask but could keep your mask down the entire flight if eating. Makes zero sense.
When you bring these absurd policies up that they loved to enforce and ask them to think critically about it for a minute, they all had the same answer, I didn’t make the policy, I only enforce it…..
