The company I work for is hiring - It's a home service type business
Posted by FLTech

We put out a few ads last Thursday on the usuals (Indeed, Zip, Craigslist, etc) and have probably received around 40 applications. Awesome right? The job starts at $25/hour so it's not the very low end of the Totem pole as far as jobs go
The cool thing is that we are getting a lot of targeted leads. Meaning we aren't getting restaurant cooks wanting to work in a home contracting business.
However, I am absolutely shocked at some of the shite I have read on people's resumes.
I would say a good 75% of the applications I have read are like this with their work history
7/1/23 - Present - bla bla bla
6/1/23 - 6/30/23 - bla bla bla
4/1/23 - 5/29/23 - bla bla bla
1/1/23 - 5/15/23 - bla bla bla
10/10/22 - 12/25/22 - bla bla bla
8/1/22 - 10/1/22 - bla bla bla
3/1/22 - 7/15/22 - bla bla bla
12/10/21 - 2/15/22 - bla bla bla
6/1/22 - 12/1/22 - bla bla bla
3/2/22 - 5/21/22 - bla bla bla
Do people no longer keep jobs longer than a few months? I just cannot believe that almost every application has a crazy long work history list where it shows that they only worked at a job for a few months, some only a few weeks, some even a few days
There's one dude that had like 18 different jobs in a 3 year span.
Serious Question:
Do today's young people actually think that it is impressive to show companies where they are trying to find a job how many different jobs they have been able to squeeze in within the past couple of years?

What’s the job. I have about 13 consecutive free days a month and am looking for something besides posting on TD to fill it with.

Serious question, what job rewards loyalty now days? Do they stay with the same company for the pension and healthcare in retirement?

installing windows and stuff like that
And you are looking for people with a long stretch with one company?
Talk about skewed expectations.

My regular bar and restaurant has turned over every, single server or waiter except for ONE dude in the 10 months I've been regularly going.
1) I think the 2020/2021 COVID laziness/entitlement of hourly and service workers generated a management backlash that may have gone a bit too far in places.
2) Everyone is hiring hourly workers, so there is no incentive for a worker to stick around with a boss that insists they don't clock in and decide to take a dump for the next 20 minutes.

My favorites are the ones that list their MLMs.
Or the ones that are too stupid to have a professional email address.
In home contracting business a lot of hires are for a specific job. Plus a lot of employers hiring entry level employees are pretty shitty to work for. I wouldn't give it too much weight.
Plus a long term employee working for a solid company isn't applying.

Is this in a metro area?

I work in a STEM field and we typically require a college degree. It's not uncommon for me to get resumes from people that are 33 and have had 8 different jobs post college.

There isn't much loyalty from companies anymore. Why should I stick around 3 years, when I don't get a raise in those 3 years and my insurance goes up in price annually?
