I think they're trying to appeal to the conservative, non-woke church seeker.
So no fig flags, just a normal church.

Then I recommend Second Baptist as a church you should consider.
Unless you're near Spring. Then Champion Forest (their senior pastor was an associate at Prestonwood where I'm a member).

Is this just straight up “anti-woke” sentiment?
IMO, yes.
SBC Houston is a large, multi-campus church. Ed Young has been the pastor for like 4 decades.
I think he's making a play on words to advertise a sermon series that's anti-woke, i.e., awake.

SBC is a huge mega church. I’ll not say anything bad about Ed Young. If you want something smaller I would recommend Houston First Baptist Church. My boys went to school there and Greg is a good dude.

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.
This sounds like the way humans have been living since the beginning of time.

To be clear, Houston's FBC is no small church itself.

The exact reference is from Revelation and letter to church at Sardis which had fallen asleep and fell into complacency. The church should be AWAKE not WOKE. I would encourage you to listen to the messages on YouTube if you are really interested in what it means and what he has to say.
Revelation 3:1–6 comprises the letter Jesus dictated to John to send to the church in Sardis. The church's reputation was a far cry from reality. It had a reputation of being a live church, but actually it was dead. While this reputation is—technically—a praise, it's a hollow one. Jesus instructed this church to wake up and strengthen what remained. All was not lost, though. A few members of the church were true to the faith, and Jesus promised they would walk with Him in purity. He would also keep their names in the book of life and confess their names before His Father.

Listened to some of Ed Young’s Woke sermons. Really good. Talks a lot about the failure of the Harris County and City of Houston Criminal Justice system

Dr. Young was very strong in his rebuke (and rightfully so) of the Harris County criminal justice system. The overarching main theme has been the woke culture’s attack on the 3 institutions that God put in place for us: Family, Government, and the Church. Each of these have been attacked and/or corrupted while the church has been asleep.

You're not wrong about that. It is much smaller than Second however. Both are fine institutions.
