Noticable increase in hoboin' in BR and Lafayette. Hopefully they start fighting for intersections so we can at least get some entertainment out of it.

Just toss a half smoked cig. along with a half eaten sandwich in the mist of them and watch the bum fight.

Gauthier, MS, managed to get removed from their redistribution list.

I’m not positive as to whether it was argued that sending people there was cruel and unusual punishment.

To me, it's a sad thing for most of these people. They have a lot of mental problems.

Ran across a young woman here last night. This is something one doesn't see here at all. Cops here were trying to help her. She really didn't know were the hell she was. I gave the young woman $20 and she didn't want to take it, but thank me. The cops bought her some food too! Don't know what happen to her after I left. Just so sad and wished I could of done more for her.

Cutting off money to homeless services would probably have the same effect for a much lower cost.

That’s $7,130 a person. For bus tickets. Yep, someone is seriously skimming off that program.

Almost 18k per family and these are homeless people so they don't have much to move

We need to round up all the homeless and send them to Puerto Rico.

I think you have to qualify for the program and it places you in a temporary home and sets you up with a job and job training.

It's not just a bus ticket.

There’s been a noticeable decrease in my area. Thanks for being so hospitable. We’ll take them back in the spring because no one wants to actually deal with the problem.

This is true. The vast majority of them are mentally and emotionally disabled. Hoboes used to be rare and everyone understood that they had these handicaps. They were pitied and were often tolerated by communities when they would set up their hobo camps.

Then, in the ‘70s and ‘80s, government-run mental institutions were shut down across the nation. The inmates were often turned into the streets and had to fend for themselves. This has resulted in the flood of homeless that some cities are seeing, especially those in warmer climes.

I wish America would abandon its welfare system and direct some of those resources to mental health programs.

I didn't realize how well traveled a lot of homeless are. I was talking to one just last week who told me about how she moves around on the Greyhound from Fargo to NYC, to down south.

For a lot of them it’s the only way they can get relief from the turbulence in their brains. They are definitely different to recreational users who get addicted and ruin their lives.
