I'm from the Bay Area. When I announced 2 months ago that I was moving to Northwest Arkansas, not my friends, but many of my coworkers looked down at me for the decision. Basically a "I can't associate myself with someone from Arkansas".

The ironic thing about football media is that they despise who the avg football fan is and the fans they despise keep them employed

The majority of us would do anything to help out our neighbors. Look at all the power companies from the southeast that drove to lake Charles and are now in the gulf coast region helping out. Some of those guys haven’t been home in over a month. I don’t see them making tic tok videos like these nurses that are in AC and can’t die in a split second. These electrical workers are the real heroes.
That OT tho

I like and respect them both. Actually, I respect nearly every profession.

Politics blind people, man. They can’t even reason with themselves as they’re so set with winning a political agenda.
Fact, and it nets them nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Who are these cuckolded folks who salivate at the thought of this overhyped flu changing our way of life forever? They are so weak.

Going to the Rose Bowl is the only thing that they care about
Back in the days of the AP poll determining the national champion, they were all about sticking their chest out and bragging about championships. Those were the days when this collective group of northern, west coast and east coast snobs turned their nose up at the SEC and never gave us the time of day in the rankings. This is why we never really saw any SEC teams win a title until the BCS was formed. So now that the method of playing for all the marbles is more accurate and they constantly find themselves short, they want to act partially disinterested from college football like that was the thought process the whole time.
ETA: we actually saw a spillover of this in the whole LSU/USC split title controversy in 2003. This is where a lot of the vitriol of that situation came from.

Player abuse at Maryland, with one player dead
Illinois coach Tim Beckman influencing medical & injury reports
And that's all just within the past decade.
Yes, you stupid liberal it's their darkest day. These people are mentally ill.

It's not so much that they are mentally ill, as much as it is their point of view/arguments are premised almost entirely, if not solely on pure emotion rather than rational thinking. And the emotional, hyperbolic rhetoric only increases when they are arguing a position for which they feel so strongly about.
The battle lines have been drawn on covid in this election year. Liberals (which the overwhelming majority of national journalist are) no longer really care about "saving lives" (if they ever actually did). They just want to continue the shutdown in all aspects SOLELY to "defeat" the other side/covid detractors. Victory at all costs is the goal, so rational thinking is lost. Ironically, it is their proclivity to OVER-DRAMATIZE virtually everything that is completely destroying their credibility. "Darkest day" in the 100+ year history of the conference? Hell, as you noted, it probably isn't even the "darkest day" in the last 5 years of the conference.
You can't continue to assert that virtually everything is the "worst in the history of ________" and expect people to continue to believe your bullshite. It's, in part, why the covid "precautions" arguments a rapidly losing steam. You can't give someone kneejerk dire predictions of 100's of millions of deaths only to have reality come NOWHERE close to that, and expect people to believe your next "dire" prediction.

If Donald Trump took the opposite stance and wanted to keep everything shut down while manufacturing fear - then that side would have a 180 degree reaction to it. You can bet your arse on that.
quote:Fun fact to your point. When taking a test and you come to a True/False question, if the question uses absolutes like "only" or "always" or "never" or even "the worst" - it's usually false.
