I don't treat my wife poorly. I don't have to treat her poorly or break her down to boost myself. We have lines that we've established when it comes to how we interact, and I don't let stuff slide. If she crosses that line I'll check her. Like "Uhh...who the hell are you talking to? Have you lost your mind?" It goes both ways actually. It creates a level of respect between us that would be nonexistent if one party was allowed to treat the other poorly with no repercussions.

That was mostly a joke. When I was younger I think I mistakenly took men being assholes as a sign confidence. It was familiar to me as my dad was verablly abusive to us. I was accustomed to the belittling and I subconsciously was seeking out guys who would do that. After many hours of therapy, I realized this about myself and now able to recognize these traits in men.

Luckily, my SO likes women with daddy issues and treats me well.

It's called testosterone. We are animals, we are just more intelligent than all the other ones (well there are some people on this board who has a lower IQ than a rhino, but you get my point).

Its possible to be fully masculine, yet also have a soft side. You can be aggressive and take charge, yet still know how to listen to and value your wife. You can be tough and rugged, but also nurturing and loving to your kids.

Amen. There's a difference between confidence, conviction and leadership and aggression.

Also, part of masculinity (at least IMO) is good judgment. A real man knows what situations need assertiveness and is appropriately assertive. An aggressive guy has constant, petty fights about small stuff to try to flex his muscles.

Or in the words of the Geto Boys:

Real gangsta-arse ****** don't flex nuts
Cause real gangsta-arse ****** know they got em

A man handles the business he needs to when he needs to.

I'm glad you figured your issues out.

FYI, if I read everything before I posted, I'd never get to post and the OT would be dumber for it.

The most cringeworthy joke in my mind is older men who say, “Well I’d like to go with you but I’ll have to ask the boss first.” That shite is nausea inducing.

Sounds like women should have been choosing mating partners like the hyenas. That way, the females would have ended up as the dominate species. I also find it funny that they say that 'way back when' women had to be picky when choosing their mate.....like they had a choice back then (early man).
