To operate Air BNB you should be required same license, tax, zoning etc as a hotel.

That's all we use anymore.
We used 2 on our recent vacation to the Canadian Rockies. Both in Calgary. Stayed in our first one for 2.5 days on the west side of the city. A basement apartment, 1 bedroom, had a pool table and was extremely clean. The 2nd one was right next to the Calgary airport, basement apartment, 2 bedrooms, and again, extremely clean. The host left a welcome message for us as we walked in. Both hosts were fantastic.

I just checked out of an AirBnB in Colorado yesterday. The lady was a “Superhost” and yet I was underwhelmed.

$100 per night (with a $400 cleaning fee).

I have no clue why someone would choose to stay in an Airbnb instead of a hotel.

Fake pics
Too many fees.
Piss-poor communication.
That's been my experience.
YMMV.

We tried it a few times, but never again.

17 Airbnb rentals over the years, and only 3 times was I unhappy. I think people are traveling less this summer, or waiting last minute. That’s what the locals in the tourism industry here are echoing.

I booked one in an unnamed Louisiana town. When I went to check in it was directly across the street from a government housing project. I called the owner immediately and demanded a refund. She tried to gaslight me into staying but hell no. Why would I do something that stupid.

Don't have to worry about unruly guests stomping above you or your adjacent rooms being too loud

We've only been unhappy once over the years.

Never understood why someone would wanna pay the same price as a hotel but you have to follow bunch of rules and there’s no conveniences available.

This right here. Im a light sleeper and people tend to be inconsiderate A-holes, slamming doors, talking and laughing loudly as they go down the hall at 2:00 A.M.

Same price as a hotel? What kind of drugs are you on? Airbnb is often significantly cheaper than hotels when I travel

Stout youve been reading too much reddit. You're starting to sound like those weirdos rambling about housing shortages. STRs make up less than 1% of available housing units in just about every major market in the US. Saying airbnb is one of the causes of a housing shortage is just lazy logic
