Economically and socially it’s a huge deal, but you can “feel” however you want

quote:well it sounds like GenZ's (who, again, are no older than 28 year old) are being a little too picky about where they want to live...so it appears that home ownership isnt a priority over other things, given there are options in their current market or in other big cities.
that’s the whole point of the fricking thread

It's fascinating that people can't simply admit that young people today have it harder than they did.
It’s mainly the zero empathy, psychotic boomers who refuse to accept that they had it lucky as hell and that it is tougher for generations after them. They literally think they were special and better than their ancestors and descendants, and everybody else is just lazy and not as smart as them.
Millennials (like myself) and Gen X largely acknowledge that is tougher for the young generations today. We have seen the transition from the prosperity of earlier decades to how expensive shite is now, and thankfully had enough footing to adapt and do alright. It’s toigher for Gen Z or whoever to get a solid footing financially.
But no use trying to convince Generation Greed (Boomers) of anything of the sort. They will sneer at you while on their 6th cruise this year and tell you to stop buying coffee.
Boomers are basically PDiddy’s character from Get Him To The Greek.

if you spend ten bucks a day on coffee that’s 3500 a year. Round down to 3000? In 5 years you’ve got a down payment
shite adds up man. Home ownership is either a priority or it isn’t. And BTW no vacations were taken while the saving was underway.

If you are someone that has student loan debt and a car note (like Mingo's example), buying a home is a risky proposition...
quote:so the median home buyer in 2007 was 39 years old...what is the rush for someone under the age of 29 to buy a home?
The age of the median home buyer in 07 was born in 1968

See, Psychotic boomer. “You will rent and like it!” The American Dream was always largely about owning your own home (at least one major part of it). Now yall are moving the goal posts and normalizing folks renting forever because you know owning for many will never happen.

You can't see the societal effects that come with the average homebuyer being nearly 60 years old?

Nope, because like many boomers (I dont know if he is actually a boomer or not, but has that mindset) he’s got his and nobody else matters.
