The accidental, didn't hang up voicemail

How is it that people have an issue with this? When someone calls you and somehow can't hang up the phone when the voicemail hits, leaving you a 2 minute long message of nothing. All you have to do is hit the button to end the call.
In the past couple weeks, I've had it happen 5 or 6 times from friends, family, and work-related people.
In today's technologically surrounded world where people are always on their mobile devices, how can someone still not do this properly?

I never ever answer the phone when my dad calls, because it's always a pocket dial. I don't know how he does it.

It's called a pocket dial. They are only calling you by accident. No one wants to talk to you.

If it is a pocket dial, the caller made an unintentional cell phone call, leaves no message, and you get random sound from the far end until the voice mail disconnects.
There can also be a call supervision problem on your phone system. When someone calls you at work and hangs up without leaving a message, the disconnect signal is sent from the originating end. The trunk (signal path) drops and your equipment is supposed to recognize the disconnect and stop the voice mail recording. Some systems (especially PBX ground start systems) are set up so that the near end (called party) controls the disconnect. The trunk stays up even though the caller has hung up. Something as simple as a tip-ring reversal on a cable pair can affect the signal supervision. For example, if it's a business system with ten trunks and only one trunk has a problem, the trouble seems to come and go depending on which trunk gets accessed.
Probably TMI, but there's more than one way this can happen.

exGF got one of these after we broke up and I took another girl home. "Accidentally" left a voicemail recording the entire night's events

And all you have to do is hit 7 or delete the second you realize it's a useless voice mail

Yeah you totes left a voicemail recording several hours of the night's events

The real question is why are you listening to a 2 minute voicemail of nothing? Takes 5 second to realize it'snot a message. Sounds like you have an issue finding your delete key

Very mature
I woke up to 3 missed calls from a friend. Quite sure they're butt dials

Well if the "entire nights events" took place in the 2 minute voicemail window, I'd imagine the girl you took home was way more upset than your ex gf
I'm sure you tried real hard, sport.

u must be in a bad mood
there's nothing to be upset about....you delete and move on.
you know, when the phone rings here and I cann tell it's a salesman, you know, the pregnant pause, I just hangup and go about my business....nothing to get bent about.
