I did not know that this flag had been missing since the day after 9/11. The flag that everyone thought was the original and signed by Giuliani, and others, was not the original.
Anyway, cool story
Also, there is a documentary on the search on Sunday night at 1030 on The history Channel

Shortly after three New York firefighters raised an American flag above the ruins left by the Sept. 11 attacks — a moment captured in an iconic photo seen around the world — the flag disappeared. Now, 15 years later, the treasured Ground Zero artifact has been recovered — nearly 3,000 miles away in Everett, Wash. Where it ended up remained a mystery until late 2014, when a man who introduced himself as Brian went to a fire station in Everett carrying a flag in a plastic bag, according to Q13 Fox, a local affiliate. The man said he had seen a documentary about the disappearance and believed he had the missing flag. Bill Schneck, a forensic materials scientist for the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab, was soon tasked to determine its authenticity.

Everett police have so far been unsuccessful in trying to find the mysterious man who walked into the fire station in 2014, but a composite sketch of the man based on descriptions from firefighters has been released in the hopes that somebody can identify him. Now recovered, the original Old Glory has been unveiled at the National September 11 Memorial Museum, where it will remain on display.

Unreal to me that it'll be 15 years.

Were you up here when it happened? I was. I have not been to the memorial and have no plans to go down there anytime soon.

I was in NYC for a wedding this past Christmas and we went to One World Trade and the Ground Zero memorial. I was kind of bothered by the amount of people smiling and laughing while taking selfies, but it is what it is.
It was very chilling standing where that happened, and it was made worse when I was looking up at the new building and saw the reflection of a plane in the windows, which made it look like the plane was flying into the building. That was enough for me.

Yep. It was a pretty cool story that I'd never heard before so I thought I'd share.

Heard it as well. That show was once great. Just a shadow of its former self.
