THIS. My idea of success is being well off enough to not have to answer emails and not have a cell phone. As a teenager of the 80's I do miss the bliss of being unconnected and complete lack of responsibility.......

Sounds like you miss being a kid, and that time just happened to coincide with the 80s.

There were cell phones in the 1980s. Hate to burst your bubble.

You should watch Midnight in Paris. Cool movie.

I agree the 80's seem cooler, even the 90's. But I remember being a kid in the 90's and talking about how boring the 90's were and how they wouldn't be known for anything. That's just because it WAS the 90's, though.

Meh. That's just nostalgia.
+1

Maybe, but the 2000's have been pretty boring, outside of technology. Living in the 80's you had no clue what you were missing, just like people 20 years from now will think about us today.

80's were awesome. So were the 90's.

My years from 12 to 22 were spent in the eighties so I'm naturally going to be biased. It was the decade where I came of age. I think everyone looks back on their childhood, teenage days and is nostalgic. It seemed more innocent because I was more innocent. Kids today will look back on this time and be nostalgic and say the same thing. In 2044 you will be telling youngsters how great it was back in the day. I'm sure every generation has done that. There was definitely a more optimistic vibe in this country back then. The economy was great and the US was at the pinnacle of its power. 9-11 completely changed things. That was a dividing point. Before and after.

I was in high school in the 80s and freaking loved every minute of it. I loved that cell phones were not prevalent. My friends and I could do stupid teenage shite and no one felt compelled to tweet it, facebook it, snapchap it or youtube it.

All of this, too. You could get away with shite back then as a teenager because it couldn't be documented. Things weren't as politically correct or uptight as they are now either.

They were the size of small suitcase.

And awesome. At the time

So were fax machines. They changed they way I did business. In 20 years people will be amused at today's technology and laugh at anyone who thinks it was an awesome time to grow up.

Depends on what you value. I love the internet and spend a lot of time goofing off on this thing at work, but enjoyed life as much before I was aware of the net.

The biggest diff for me is cell phones. You used to say you were going to be somewhere and you'd be there.

Ha so you ask for proof that you're wrong, get it, and then you're "over talking". Sums it up nicely.
