That Atchafalaya Bridge and I-10 to the bridge never ceases to amaze me.

You really do have to be on high alert at all times on that stretch of road especially, and it’s not my first time dealing the importance of that there, believe me.
I’ve just never seen so many convoys of cars and 18 wheelers tailgating one another at 70-80 mph and all jockeying for position to get to their destination 2 minutes faster than everyone else. That’s some dangerously sketchy shite. Almost saw a 5 or more car wreck with a convoy of cars slamming on their brakes right up under each other, and all it took was one single truck in the right lane to simply not look and cut in front of the first car and the shite almost hit the fan. At that clip, it would not have been a pretty sight. Most had to hit the shoulder to avoid the car in front of them because it happened so fast and they were already up under each other’s arse.
Please be careful people. It’s not worth human lives.

I love my adaptive cruise control

Can’t imagine what they do in places where the speed limit is at 75 mph.

If the sons of bitches would get over I'd drive faster.

I drive 80 during the day... 95ish in the mornings at night.
I'm usually in the right lane being passed.

I had to cross it that Wednesday of Freeze Week 2021. I was all puckered up.

I-75 at any point along it.
shite is a damn war zone just coming in and out of Atlanta everyday for work. Legit saw nearly identical wrecks going north AND south bound at the exact same point at 6 PM this past Tuesday.
Like the OP said, people just need to calm their tits and learn that shaving 2 minutes off your total commute isn't worth the carnage of cars and folks.

It's hard for law enforcement to monitor the speed because of the short shoulders. They should have electronic enforcement on that bridge like Baker has.

No idea why 18 wheelers are restricted to 55 mph in the right lane if no one ever enforces that.

So highways can’t talk now?

Agreed. I can tell for a fact I keep it at 60 and the right lane and trucks pass me like nothing. Not one drives 55 that I see. It’s just a joke.

I-75 is at least 3 lanes each way plus it has shoulders.
I would rather drive that anyday than the tube of the basin bridge. You have no where to go and only 2 lanes.

Child’s play. The real fun starts about 300 south on 1-95 between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.

You mean 400?
Ocala to Tampa or 400 to Orlando can be tight but it's waaaaay down the list compared to several parts of 95 up and down the eastern seaboard...
But that stretch from Breaux Bridge to THE OTHER SIDE of Baton Rouge is just a headache...
I just ride 90 anymore if I go that way...I'll risk the potholes.
Worst stretch to me is 95 DC to NY.

I agree, but the peach pass helps avoid the almost permanent accordion traffic in McDonough to the south. The 575 break off to the north can be fricky but it's really only drive time gridlock frickery.

They should re-name it Shits Creek basin.

Do not know how many times I have driven this, it has nothing on the Atchafalaya bridge.

I started taking 90 from NOLA to Lafayette because I despise that drive so much.

I ended up in my old 94 z71 bailing out into grass on the right side headed east due to a massive pileup.
Going to an LSU game and there was a huge wreck in front of me and I pulled off and prayed I wouldn't end up in the trees. I pulled off the shoulder in case anyone else darted out.
Picker factor level 10
