Bring back BDUs with buttons, sawn on patches and shined boots. And iron sites.

Those berets don't look good or disciplined, at all.

If worn per 670-1 they look sharp. It takes a lot more work to make a beret look good than it does for a patrol cap.

BDU's are legit as frick but I kind of liked the berets even for non-ABN units. Sue me.

The younger baws will never know the feeling of showing up to Monday morning formation in pressed summer BDU's and glassed out jump boots.

This

You have to shave it, shape it, cut out the liner, trim the backing behind the flash.

Patrol cap was easy.

That heavy arse starch yo.

Sadly I still get my shirts and slacks with heavy starch and creases in the sleeves when I take stuff to the cleaners. Old habits are hard to break.

It looks great the first time. At least for a couple days. But you have to completely strip your boots every week to keep up the illusion. Easier to just use Kiwi in the long run.

They just wake up pull their uniform from a duffle, slap boots on with trouser bands (forgot what they’re called) and Velcro patches. Ignorant as frick with landnav and can’t make Site adjustments. But all about instagram photos and looking hard.

Always Kiwi for the dull standard gloss.

The funny thing about starch is it is against Army regs to starch a combat uniform.

I remember when the ACU's came out. They made a huge deal about not starching them. I saw a CSM with heavy starched ACU's the day after we got them.

I recall a light starch was acceptable in garrison but in field or war zone was against regs.
