How long is the wait on a Daytona from an AD?
GMT-II?
Can you order or do you just have to take what the AD gets in?

And lack of knowledge regarding Rolex’s isn’t even the most shameful of my many character flaws.
And I’ll look forward to telling my wife that I encountered someone else who uses that phrase.

lol it's not shameful it's that there is no simple answer to that question. do you know someone who works there? that's the best way to obtain. are you a big spender? 2nd best way. are you a random walk-in? probably never happening but slim chance.

No I don’t think so but maybe. I haven’t been in yet. I wanted to do some homework first.
We have spent some money on jewelry for my wife but not at theAD here. What is considered “big” for the purposes of this experiment?
The reason I want the Rolex tbh is because my daughter has several nice pieces she will inherent and I want something for my son. I’ll wear it for 20 years and then give it to him and hopefully he will do the same.
I’m not in any hurry so I don’t mind waiting a year+ if need be. But it sounds like what you’re saying is that isn’t even possible.

Gulf NATO to boot.
It's a Zulu Diver and has some stretch to it which makes it super comfortable and it's on a clasp which i prefer. Have to sport the Gulf for racing season.

Go in there and tell them that story, try to connect with a salesperson. Any spend is nice but 5 figures would probably classify you as a good customer.

Enough to where the sales associate would recognize you. Also depends on where you live.
Had a friend walk into an AD and there was a Batgirl in the case. He asked if it was for sale. The sales associate said "it is for sale, but not for you."

Ouch.
That basically happened to me at a used guitar store with a vintage Orange head and cabinet. Obviously I was too square.
Tangentially why is called Batgirl” and not “Batman”?

To add to that don't just make friends with the closest large dealer branch out and hit smaller dealers in the area too. When you "make friends" with a salesperson follow up with them. Not every week but every 4-6 weeks just make a phone call and remind them you are interested. It is also good to drop by when you are in the area, in the initial meet ask what days they work and try to catch them when they are working. If you drop buy and they aren't there have a business card you can leave with something like:
" Hi Nancy, I dropped by and you weren't working but you wanted to touch base and reiterate my interest in a Rolex 116600. I appreciate you keeping me in mind.
If you work it long enough you will get lucky especially if you are willing to take several models. If you are willing to buy a GMTII, Daytona, or EXPII your chances go up compared to just being willing to take a Daytona.
If you get desperate you can always drop back punt and buy an unworn version on the secondary market. I don't recommend it but it is nevertheless an option.

1016 is next level.
Mine is a 114270 - like a 2005 I think

Great info! Thx!
Is there usually a Rolex specific salesperson or just talk to whomever approaches me first?
And I only see two official dealers in Alabama listed on Rolex.com. Are there others that just aren’t on the website?
