I'm sure many were fake, but its not like that doesn't happen all the time. I know all kinds of people that have gotten random nudes meant for other people.
The dad/ dan thing is exactly why I put in people's full names. I have Dad "john Smith" in my phone.
My wife's college room mate broke up with a guy she'd been dating for 1.5 years that I had become friends with, so of course I got in the middle of it. They were both texting me after the break up, and as much as I tried to stay the hell out of it I sent him a text that was meant for her. I don't remember what it was anymore, but he stopped wanting to be friends. It was something along the lines of "needing to grow up".

Never got or sent nudes to the wrong number.
But one time I meant to text my friend telling him not to go to a drug dealer because the dude was sketch. It was right after j had left said dealer so I had just texted him. Accidentally sent the text to the dealer using his name and everything. Luckily the dealer was dumb as a bag of rocks so I was able to make him think that not only did I send the text to the wrong person, but I used the wrong name too because I was going to tell my buddy to go to him so I got the names mixed up
Idiot.
