So instead of sitting at a table, everyone will be packed in the waiting area together while they serve 10 of the 40 tables.

I doubt people will be allowed to pack the waiting area. 25% capacity will likely extend to that area, as well, but don’t know many restaurants that have more than a bench or 2 for a waiting area. Many will likely go to reservation only to control crowds.

For something 1 in 40,000 of the population died in Texas.

Sounds reasonable, but I still think a normal chill bar is probably safer than being at a restaurant.

Think of it this way, around which one are you more likely to roam? At a restaurant, you're seated at your table and only really move to leave or use the restroom. At a bar, you may easily move all around the entire bar during the time you're there.

It's incredibly easier to continue the social distancing measures at a restaurant.

If Texas is only opening 25% capacity and no gyms/salons, maybe LA will extend, as I don't see LA opening more than TX.

Well there will be more cases. What is a spike?

I would assume they have a baseline for what a dangerous spike would be. They've be using UT models for their data and decisions and I'm sure this decision was no different.

Fair enough.

What’s the differentiation on bar vs restaurant, how much revenue they do on alcohol vs food,

Yeah it's some kind of breakdown like that. Lot's of bars here serve great food, but their permit says they are a bar.

I also think you will see some sort of variable pricing model. Extended happy hours Mon - Wed, minimum purchase required Thurs - Sun

Yep, you gonna have to really want ChaChi's to go fight that madhouse.

I just want to go work out at a real gym and move past seldf given high and tights and it looks like mid-May for both.

Reddit is as much of an echo-chamber for the left as the OT is for the right. Reality tends to fall somewhere in the middle.

I know it's not possible, but damn it would be nice if those places that have outside seating could open.

I think it's a smart condition. It's wonderfully flexible.

Probably. Although our lunchtime crowd almost rivals weekend dinner crowds here. It will be nice to have a lunchtime cocktail with friends again.

Yep, so when I see the OT saying we should open everything just like normal right now and see Reddit claiming we should shut down forever, I know this is a solid plan by Abbott.

they really are just setting up things to waffle between phase 1 and phase 2 for the foreseeable future arent they

i dont know what is so confusing, they are "opening things up" under the guise that life is normal again

when in reality not much has changed.

unless of course you see restaurants opening at 50% capacity as some sort of "win"
