All fraternity and sorority activities at Texas State University were suspended indefinitely Tuesday, one day after a 20-year-old student died following an event hosted by a fraternity that was already being investigated by the university. Matthew Ellis, a business administration sophomore, was pronounced dead Monday afternoon at an off-campus apartment complex. University President Denise Trauth said Ellis, a Phi Kappa Psi pledge, attended an off-campus fraternity party Sunday night. The University Star, Texas State's student newspaper, reported the fraternity event was an initiation.
