I remember things too, but it’s a different time and a different product. Many of these vapes are weed pens. Im sure that’s part of the reason for a “harsh” penalty.

All the shite in the world to be worried about and youre concerned about vape suspensions.

At home suspensions never work - kid winds up being surrounded by the distractions that prohibit learning in the first place. What REALLY worked as punishment when I was in grade school was the dreaded SATURDAY detentions. Losing an entire day of a weekend to sit in the library to study, do homework, or writing a stupid paper.

Because past evidence shows that the white kids will get away with it while minorities are suspended.

They just need to start associating it with being trashy, because it is.

It’s not, attended a presentation from the sheriff’s office the other day.
It’s bad, and it’s going to get a lot worse

That sounds like hysteria to me. Not saying it's impossible, but it reminds me of the tall tales I heard from police and military types while growing up during the heyday of Just Say No.

Because it's Texas not Louisiana. Texas actually has excellent public school systems. I know that's hard to understand in Louisiana. They actually care there. They care about the child's education and health. It's mind boggling for someone in Louisiana.
Don't overestimate other people's admiration for those windowless, over-cooled sports academies / occasional shooting ranges you call schools.
Vapes, FFS. Crazy the drama people manufacture for themselves.

Why is this not something they can handle on an individual basis?
It is. Each individual who is caught vaping is suspended for 10 days.

This is not accurate. It’s not a 10 day suspension. It’s a mandatory placement in the alternative school for a length of time determined by the ISD. But it seems many ISDs are going to do 30-45 days.

Where are you getting 30-45 days, the PTA gossip board? Our ISD says, overall, a referral to the DAEP cannot be appealed if it is under 45 days in length, but it does not specify the term of a level IV offense.
Katy ISD rates e-cigarettes as a Level IV offense, the same as being drunk or assaulting a staff member, which is ridiculous.
Here's a lesson, frickwits: follow the rules.

Look up Texas House Bill 114. ALC or something similar is going to be mandatory if a student is found with a vape or similar product. It’s now a State Law. No getting around it.

Yes, I got burned out 40 pages in, but, "Offenses that will will result in a 45 day recommendation" is decidedly different than what OP has presented.
