Texas requires students to be suspended for 10 days for vaping

This seems a bit extreme. Why is this not something they can handle on an individual basis?

Damn, seems like an easy way to get a couple weeks free.

No, discipline is exactly what our schools need. There needs to be consequences for these things since it’s easy to conceal what’s in the vape.

hmmmm, this is a tricky one for the you guys.

If you want to take a hard line, make it ten days of detention. Ten days of suspension is fricking stupid.

Good. Should be more for sucking on one of those pussy sticks.

We need to bring back smoking areas for kids (and teachers).

Seems extreme considering schools had smoking areas not that long ago

Prob because there are assholes who do it in the middle of class. I'm sure the school system.has been trying to discipline but it hasn't made a dent.

They’re doing it in the bathrooms and triggering fire alarms, which wastes the fire departments time and costs the schools money.
Parents complain when schools lack discipline then complain when they do discipline.

Why is that even something schools should concern themselves with?
It seems like these "educator" types look for any distraction from real learning they might possibly find. Vaping enforcement, DARE, prom, football, bullying... maybe if these places had actual academic standards no one would have the time and energy required for such shenanigans.

Wait, you think schools should permit vaping on campus?

Since when did liquid vapor trigger SMOKE alarms?

I'm OK with whatever tobacco policy they want to enforce, provided it doesn't interfere with learning.
I don't think a wide-open policy would interfere with learning. I don't think treating a vape pen similarly to a bag of Doritos (i.e. wanting it out-of-sight during instructional time) would interfere with learning.
The policy described by OP clearly interferes with learning.

Should be more and should be in-school suspension/detention. Don’t let them have a vacation.

Fentanyl is making its way into the synthetic Mary Jane vape cartridges
Kids are dying
This is terribly serious

With a vape?
Think about what you just said.
