It absolutely goes to improving and laying new utilities. Municipalities assist with paying for utility line installation.

I know in Katy ISD, they would promote the bonds as in "no new taxes needed".

i worked for schools. they lie a lot.

For a previous district i worked for, they tried a bond with a new school (needed for overcrowding,) technology budget to revamp the district (fairly needed,) and a $10mm field house. it failed bigly.

the district then said people were opposed to the technology part (Ron Howard: they were not) and removed it, tried again with school and Field House, failed even more biglyier.

then they tried with just the school and it passed at 70%.

Then there was magically enough money for the field house.

Many people don’t want or need to sent their kids to public (government) schools and send their kids to private schools instead. What about that is so hard to understand?

So a buddy moved to Dallas and bought a house just a little over $350,000 and states his additional taxes are $1,000 a month. He doesn’t have kids. WTF is up with that BS? So he basically paying almost $12,000 in taxes. So your mortgage isn’t $1500 but $2500 a month.

Dats normal. Was paying that in Fort Bend also... why you think they got all them nice schools and roads, baw?

This is the most factually incorrect post you’ll ever read this side of the poli board.

1. A significant portion of your property tax bill is that which is levied by your local utility district. I’ll let you guess what that goes toward.

2. The people who don’t want a public education system aren’t very bright, making them most in need of such a system.

Also depends on if you are in a MUD or not. Our total tax rate is 2.1%, whereas in a subdivision a few miles away it's more like 2.75% because it's a part of a MUD.

Oh well. I suppose you could always move if it's too much of a burden. Or support a state income tax.

It's funny seeing so many trying to justify paying so much in property taxes.
High property taxes are close to a wealth tax since they never go away and only go up.

At least with income tax when you retire, you income goes down and you control sales tax by reducing consumption.

High property taxes are a huge reason people have to move into apartments when they retire in high property tax areas.

I pay what I consider a fair amount for the services we receive but much more I feel govt will waste.
Property tax receipts in my area are at record levels due to high values but the millage has only gone up slightly the past decade.

I am surprised by this. I live near Seattle and pay less than that on a home assessed at nearly 3x that (no brag...homes here are ridiculously expensive). WA doesn't have an income tax either. We get a high level of service so curious why taxes would be less here than in TX.
