Yes, you are getting enjoyment out of killing an animal.
yeah that’s part of it. But that’s with all hunters. You know jim bob that sits his fatass on the power line and waits for an 8 point to walk out can just as easy go to McDonald’s and get a burger. With factory farming the way it is hunting is no longer needed for sustenance. Bottom line is this, either hunting is okay in your book or it’s not. Theres really not much nuance as long as someone is eating the animal. So don’t be a hypocrite. If you watched Bambi when you were a kid and feel sorry for the talking animals then by all means run this dirty rotten hunter into the ground but if you don’t have a problem with some guy in Mississippi killing a white tail don’t go casting stones on a guy who simply has the means to go after much larger animals. That doesn’t mean you have to feel sorry for the guy, he knew what he was getting into but don’t be a hypocrite.

Comparing a hunt to a vacation, just because they're linked under a very broad category of doing something they enjoy, is a bit of a stretch though
getting gored to death on a hunt is not a likely outcome and it’s literally a vacation for most people. My uncle goes on vacation every year to Colorado and spends a week hunting mule deer, elk, and black bear. That is his big vacation for the year outside of summer trips with the family.

I just don't feel sorry for these sport hunters when this happens. I do feel sad for their families.

The kids, not the wife.

Every one of these big-game hunting safari types I have ever known have been the biggest assholes breathing.

The wife knew what she was getting into.

Agreed, not even close. The buffalo is third in line behind the hippo and the Nile crocodile.

I love people who shite on hunting but those same people have no issues eating meat bought from a grocery store, as if an animal didn’t die for that packaged meat to exist.

Which is better: the animal being hunted who has a fighting chance to get away or the cow/chicken that spends its entire life on a factory farm, enclosed to a specific area and doomed to the slaughter house? FWIW I have no issue with either, it’s just the hypocrisy baffles me

It is interesting, isn't it?

If a child kills animals for fun, everyone is concerned and we suspect psychopathy.

If an adult kills animals for fun, no one bats an eye and we just call him an "outdoorsman."

I never have figured that one out.

It's not hypocrisy.

The difference is that person B in your hypothetical takes no pleasure in the killing of the animal. Person A does.

As an analogy, we spanked our children when they needed it, but not because we liked it or that it gave us pleasure. If it had given us pleasure, there would have been a problem.

See the difference?

Who says Person A takes pleasure in killing an animal? It's more likely they take pleasure in the actual hunt not the killing of the animal.

I grew up hunting and couldn't get enough of it, I just enjoyed the entire experience, used to kill the hell out of things, now I haven't been in years, I still think I'd enjoy the experience but I just don't eat wild game anymore, except fish, if I'm not to going to eat it or have someone to give it to that will eat it I'm not going to kill it

Then why don't they simply dry fire with the animal in their sights, knowing that their hunt succeeded?

Because it’s also fun to track, clean, cook, and eat them!

Well, it wasn't a success without getting the meat now is it?. You can still not take pleasure in the actual killing of the animal. It's no different than not taking pleasure in the slaughterhouse killing a cow but being happy to buy the steak at the grocery store. I guess hunters can take pleasure in knowing the animal didn't suffer while never knowing about whether the cow suffered or not.
