So Texas is less "free" than California??

How do they get away with publishing garbage like this?
Newsweek didn’t conduct the study. Did you even read the article you linked?
The post said PUBLISH, not "conducted the study". Newsweek should discern whether or not what they publish is junk before they put it in print.

California is banning the sale of ICE vehicles.
This year they banned gasoline powered lawn equipment.

Probably not that high but it should certainly be up there. Telling a woman what she can do with her own body won’t help you very much if you’re trying to convince people they have freedom.

That is just trolls from secret societies/organizations spreading propaganda and/or disinformation. They dominate the entire board, harass people, and downvote in large numbers, like they did the first post on this thread. This is their sorry attempt to discredit or silence people/dissidents. That's why most aren't from Louisiana. I would also be cautions about clicking on some of the links they are posting, if it requires you to download anything.
We are seeing this across most internet forums. There was once a small elite that could control the entire mass media and manipulate public opinion. Because of the internet, they have lost influence. Now they are trying to gain it back by trolling forums. Reddit is the best example, because half of the postings are deleted or censored. People believe that many of the postings and sub reddits are coming from Eglin Air force base, which is a possible US gov't troll farm. Many are also coming from Russian Troll farms.
That's why you can't trust much that you read here, anymore than you can trust the mainstream media. The news media hides behind the first amendment to print their disinformation, but don't support the freedom of speech for the people posting on their internet forums, because many are censored very closely, and a large percentage of comments are deleted.

If cocaine and hookers are not legal.. Or we all truly free?
Posted on 12/1/24 at 3:45 pm to Woolfpack
Sounds correct to me. Seriously, those of you who think of everyone riding on the range with six shooters and Winchester rifles or anything close to that are clueless. It is one of the most regulated states in the USA and has been for many years.
Posted on 12/1/24 at 4:11 pm to CitizenK
I think most regulated is a bit of a exaggeration but it is true that Texas has some very backwards laws and regulations when it comes to starting small businesses for example
Barber shops or hairdressers
the fact that you have to get a license to do that is ridiculous when you consider that it is one of the few skills that one can learn in prison and you can make money when you get out of prison but the industry lobbies the state legislature to put in rules
Not to keep business safe but to keep out competition

Gun rights and freedom of speech > abortion, as two of those are literally listed in the Constitution, but I doubt this publication scores it as such.

See that's the illogical habit esp as of post Nov 5 , 24the left likes to have false conversations
The government has to a degree always told people what they can and cannot do with their bodies or to be capable of ,,because of predictive limitations with their body
men ,,women children.. young and old Drivers license are an example
so to act as if women are being picked on and picked out is just untrue
And in each case that you can cite
citizens of this country have the right to address their grievances and change the law if they can get a majority of their fellow citizens whose rights are just as valid
to agree with them

Air emissions = CA, NY and Ontario per a friend who rents package boilers to chemical plants and refineries.
As for bars/alcohol, some of the most ridiculous laws around,.which was something I discovered when I moved there in the early 1980's.
