I stayed in Bremerton and it seemed like a cool life. Take the ferry into downtown. Catch all the games right there. You hardly would even need to leave downtown when you go to town, which is where the trouble begins. They keep the streets off the coast real nice for the tourists.

All the dudes I met that didn’t live in Seattle proper seemed like regular chill bros you would find anywhere.
But in Seattle, all the dudes that aren’t tourists or super wealthy seem to be edgy dudes that will be a dick to you if you don’t look as edgy as they do.

I’ve been going to Austin once or twice a year since about 2014. It’s truly insane how much it has changed in just over 10 years.

The PNW is the only part of this country I have zero interest in living in. I’d much rather live in Vermont or Maine if I had to live in a cold, blue state.

How mad is this buckeye fan going to be when Texas beats their arse in Columbus to start the season?

Flat-out false – sprawl and substance are mutually exclusive.

I would encourage you to spend more time getting to know these cities instead of ripping them via keyboard and mouse. Do these cities have the same level of history and culture as older US cities, no not necessarily

But….

San Antonio alone is home to the Alamo, Spanish missions, and a rich Mexican-American heritage.

Austin has a globally recognized identity as a live music capital and tech

Houston, for instance, is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the U.S. and has world-class art, theater, and culinary offerings.

Dallas has its “go big or go home” energy with having a major business and finance hub, home to over 20 Fortune 500 companies. Along with world class art institutes.

did a little deeper homie.

I'm a Texan now. The summers suck. I have to keep in mind that for eight months the weather is pretty good. But July and August do suck. In September you have football season as a distraction.

I was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in the early 2000’s. Love San Antonio and the hill country. New Braunfels is one of my favorite places.

Our son is stationed at Goodfellow afb in San Angelo. That place is hotter than seven hells. My wife and I would walk along the Concho River on the Riverwalk right at sunset. The temperature was still 95 degrees lol.

Besides the heat, the geography of the southern plains doesn’t really appeal to me.
I might add Texas probably has the largest populations of various rattlesnakes. That alone is a dealbreaker.

Yeah because Dallas’s art institutes are totally on the level of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and Smithsonian in DC

Jealous?

Not jealous at all, in fact I pity those who think Texas is the best thing in the world. Why would your entire identity revolve around a state?

I don't think he's talking about museums, although the DMA, Crow Collection, Nasher, Kimball, and Carter are all worth a visit.

He might be referring to the actual Art Institute of Dallas.

Why do you continue to berate Texas?

Far from it. But it suits many of us just fine.

In Texas every 7th grader in public school takes Texas History for an entire year. This ingrains a deep sense of pride in our history.

Texas was a country before it was a state. That's some of the attitude. With as many people as are moving to Texas, it will Californicate at some point.

Idk why OP is so angry.

I will say that as someone who lived in Texas, the previous combo of robust job market and affordable housing had kind of disappeared over the last 10 years. So that is a negative now. Jobs are still there but young people are having trouble buying homes.

There are pros and cons to everywhere I’ve been in America. Many places I’ve visited I love to visit but couldn’t see myself living there. I don’t like blanket statements like the one from the OP.

was thinking the same while looking at this thread, my company HQ is here and although I spent a number of years living in FL(nobody's from FL ) I've live here for quite a few years as well, I can't think of a whole lot of folks I know that are actually from here

sounds like he’s just a simpleton.

Texas didn’t force him to move here, he should just leave if he’s sooo miserable.
