Just took a trip to Houston/San Antonio/Hill Country/Austin
Not really different than pretty much anywhere else in the south, lots of fatties to go with your hot women
Your gun laws are actually much stricter in some cases. Open carry for example. This is all in your head.
I did have some of the best brisket of my life there, so point to you.

I'll say this, my brief time in Texas,I've learned that the slogan "like a whole nother country" is true from both the cool things to do in the state and the way they think about many topics.

Houston and Dallas have no culture whatsoever.
San Antonio and Ft. Worth have a pretty cool culture.
Austin has culture but it seems so manufactured, which is interesting because Austin is supposed to be counter-culture, but it's like a purchased, fake counter-culture.
HEB is awesome. Whataburger is pretty good.
Texas Medical Center does some good stuff.
