The first thought that popped in my head was precaution from incidents like Columbine and Sandy Hook...and I'm willing to bet that was the underlying motive behind the school and police reactions. The fact he is Muslim is a coincidence and secondary.

Yea I'm an idiot for believing its an incredible injustice that 14 year old got humiliated in front of his class, arrested and harassed because of his name and appearance.

fricking stupid. And this isn't partisan bullshite. We had this discussion in my office. Almost all liberal thinking. Done with these huge settlements over hurt feelings.

There are taking precautions and there is going overboard.
They went way the frick overboard.
The school should have checked it out. No problem with that. It should have taken about 2 minutes for them to determine it was just a clock and let the kid go on with his day rather than putting him in cuffs, printing him, and not allowing him to call his parents.
