The "arms race" in Texas high school football is similar to that which the SEC has had over the last 5-10 years. I expect more schools to start doing this in order to keep up.

All the "no big government" types come out cheering for a $50m high school stadium.

Taxpayers are actually voting for these stadiums.

I voted for the stadium in my district even though I have no kids in school anymore. It helps keep the property values up which helps to keep the trash out.

High schools don't need stadiums like this. But that is just my opinion.

This one is actually going to be a municipal type deal, hosting games for the 3 or 4 major high schools in town.

McKinneys old high school stadium used by all schools is dump with very little parking

My town, Allen, has no damn excuse. It is one school, haha. We do host other schools to though for a chunk of change I believe.

You are failing to realize that individuals actually get to go in and vote on this proposition, along with others propositions. It takes the decision and puts it in the peoples hands, you know, where the no big government folks like it. Oh and the school district is an Independent School District, meaning it is run by elected officials that live within the district, not by parish or county appointed officials. Its nice getting to vote and have input on the direction your school district goes. But carry on with your bashing.

If I'm not mistaken, this will belong to the entire district, not just one high school. This is a common practice in that area, at least.

Frisco ISD schools just signed a 1.2 million dollar deal with Nike to outfit all their sports teams.

Frisco ISD is playing games at the Dallas Cowboys new complex off the Dallas North Tollway.

Needless to say, McKinney needs to keep up.

Edit. Sorry. 1.7 million dollar deal. Frisco Nike deal

Lol it cracks me up when I see people who aren't from Texas freaking out about this kind of stuff.

Same people who freaked out when they found out the Cowboys used Highland Park's Indoor practice facility if the weather was bad......well close to 50 schools alone in DFW have indoor practice facilities

Never bad to invest money in kids. These stadiums are typically part of bigger bonds that include many things.

Yeah man. Outsiders don't understand the money flowing through these schools.

Prosper High School campus is just as big as McNeese State in Lake Charles. Its incredible.

Independence High in Frisco just opened their new school last year. That place has purple marble everywhere. Its a god damn cathedral.

ditto

I dont see what the big deal is. In Texas they build one mega stadium for multiple schools to use. In Louisiana each school typically has its own mediocre on campus stadium. So is it better to have five schools and five smaller, shittier stadiums or 5 schools play in one nicer and bigger stadium that they share?
