Lucky you aren't dead already driving on those POS tires.

YOU CAN DO IT
don't let a plug get in the way of high speed excitement with an added caveat of "small" blow out when rolling 95mph :usa:

By what the tire guys suggest, replace that bitch. But I've always questioned that "suggestion". I worked in tire shops/repair shops for years and never seen a blowout due to a sidewall plug.

So, think about it this way. As a commissioned based salesmen, would you rather sell a $15.00 plug or $250 tire? I've questioned the sidewall plug theory several times and was never presented data to prove that it was any worse than a plug placed center tread...

Just go get it professionally patched

Most "professionals" i've run across wouldn't tough that plug close to the sidewall like that. I did have one send me down to the Mexicans down the street though, and I got another year out of a tire just like that.

ETA: I say this and I generally think the tire guys are fricking me. Your pic is a no-brainer though

I'm gonna head to the tire shop in the morning. Can't stand having mismatched tires, so I guess I'm gonna spring the G for a whole new set. I have sold old tires on CL before, so hopefully I can get a couple hundred for these three that are still good

I wouldn't trust AT tires to go must faster than that even on new tires. I'd be getting some new tires if I was you.

If that plug is on the back, it will be perfectly fine. I put one in my wife's kia exact same spot on a rear tire. Been there for months. If it's on the front, it's a little risky.

They definitely will try to sell a tire anytime they can make an excuse for it, but when I worked at a tire shop I saw 2 tires come through blowout or about to blowout from flat repair. One was standard DIY plug at sidewall shoulder, another was one that was on the edge of tread and sidewall that I had patched. First one was blown out, the second they brought back with a bunch of lumps in the sidewall and treads starting to separate a few weeks after flat repair.

It sells more tires, but it's definitely better safe than send a customer away with a flat and have that tire blow out and them die.

I've had exactly the same thing happen before.

Plug it... it's a heavy duty tire.

Load range E BFG AT's are some of the finest, longest lasting tires made.

Nah, patches are fine as long as you have AAA

Doubt you know how to insure a plug holds if you routinely drive 95 on the interstate on ATs, but ya, go ahead and replace all tires. They'll see you coming.

No legitimate place will patch or plug it, liabilty reasons. Patch will not hold and cannot be applied correctly in that bend. Plug could or could not hold, up to you. Did you coat it with rubber cement, baw?

Yes, I've put plugs in tires before they've held up for the duration. I haven't ever put one on an edge or sidewall though, hence the thread.

Boats, it has barely a little egg right where I put the plug. Hasn't lost any pressure still. My mom is really close to the family who owns the tire shop, so I'm pretty sure they won't screw me over. They have given me my last four sets for their cost (a good bit under magazine/online prices)

Probably just gonna end up cutting my fenders and running some 39.5" Boggers. Go big or go home
