My cousin's boyfriend proposed to her last night in front of the whole family during the Christmas get together at my parents house. They are here visiting from Lafayette for the holidays. They've been dating for like ten years, so it wasn't totally unexpected, but we all love her fiance, and we are super happy for them.

I'm almost home from deployment, and the whole family flew from Louisiana to meet me at the pier and welcome me home. Sad that I've spent more time on this ship than in my house...

Either way,

It's weird how similar this story is to how I proposed to my wife. From LA, in Bama visiting her family during Christmas, proposed during a holiday party. We had been dating for a while too, so it was not unexpected.

Not sure if her family loved me at the time, but I think they do now.

Congratulations to your cousin.

Wow, that's crazy!

Yeah man, we celebrated pretty hard last night, and I woke up this morning at about 6 to drive an hour and a half back up to Birmingham for work. I feel like shite!

I know this one is corny, but here it goes… I'm on vacation with my family at Disney.
My son, daughter and I were sitting on a bench on one of the boats. A lady and her two small children boarded the boat… it was crowded, with no more available seats. I stood up to give her my seat. Without hesitation or me saying anything, both my children did the same thing as I did . I just smiled .

While evacuating hospital patients from NOLA during Katrina, I rescued a dog from a patient, exchanged numbers, kept him for about 4 months, reunited him with his owner after Xmas 2005, the owner died, willed us the dog, and the dog is still kicking

I dont see that as being corny at all. Its moments like those that let you know you are doing a good job of being a dad.

I was nice to the people who were screaming at me because we closed for the holiday and they couldn't get their packages (that they were informed were in the office and listed when we would be closed).

Thanks.

Now I'm about to go buy me some new jeans and belt. When I went into the hospital in Nov I weighed 255 lbs. Today I weigh 200.4 lbs. in short I've lost 55 lbs in fluids since in a less than two months. That's like shedding a 5 gallon bucket of fluids.
