Golden Nugget is nicer but both places have become overrun by Mexicans
The pool areas yes
Casinos and restaurants less so

$589 to stay there one night this weekend. Is that normal?

I'd take L'Auberge and the points since it's a home game.

What are the pros and cons of each?
L'Auberge has a height advantage as well. Golden Nugget is shorthanded with a couple of guys out.
Sadly, a hurricane could cancel the game so keep that on mind. They seem to target LC.

I guess its no big thang if you plan on winning 1000s of dollars at the casino like I am.

The last time I stayed at lauberge, the room smelled moldy and it was kinda damp. Like I said. The last time I stayed there. The nugget is way nicer.

These days, they pump in eucalyptus scented oxygen to keep the bussed in octogenarian Texans alive and kicking so that they can keep pushing the SPIN button.
And to hide the smell of despair.

The octogenarian Texans are the ones responsible for all the smoke

I will say Lauberge has renovated many of their hotel rooms & is much nicer than it was.
The Nugget is where the action is. Better table limits & odds at Lauberge.
Depends on what you are wanting.

If you’re staying there M-F for work, and get a per diem, I would save money and stay at LDL (or more likely one of the three story hotels nearby with a kitchenette and a free breakfast). Is there still a shuttle between the two? Always preferred the pool at Lauberge vs GN. Restaurants are all overpriced due to casino comps, but GN is basically every Landry’s restaurant group restaurant and not much else.
Anyone remember the old Isle of Capri poker room in the mid 2000’s? Full level of one of the boats just for poker—had to be at least 30+ tables. Made some money there back in the day. I’m guessing poker clubs/rooms in Texas has killed the LC poker scene.

The High Roller suites at the Nugget are really nice. There’s an entire side of the hotel that has it’s own elevators. I got upgraded for free one night to the Presidential Suite. I had no idea it even existed until then.
