I know that Barney rented a corner room at the Y and loved it so much he moved there to become a detective.

They tore down the old Central Y with the rented rooms and built a new one. It's really nice tbf.

Yankee here, checking in. I love Raleigh. I have ever since I first visited.

Has to be frustrating seeing so much change in such a short time but I sometimes think the NC natives blame Yankees for everything while the whole world changed in the past 30 years. It’s sad to go into small town anywhere USA and see everyone glued to their phones. It’s like we are all tethered to a mothership or something.

Wake Forest University ranks 68 out of 2,183 when it comes to geographic diversity. 77.96% of Wake Forest University students come from out of state, and 11.41% come from out of the country.
Wake Forest University is in Winston-Salem (1.5 hrs west of RDU) and not in Wake Forest. Wake Forest University moved to W-S around 1950 when RJ Reynolds’ heirs wanted to create a school similar to Duke.

You would see “go home yankee” bumper stickers back then.

People mostly rail against the Ohioans since there are so many here and continuing to come...and of course the OSU fans are very easily spotted and loud in general.

It has struck me how similar SC and WI people are. Super friendly and chatty, family and faith focused, more conservative, down to earth, love being outdoors, lots of pickup trucks That may be most of the Carolinas and if so it's a great fit because that's exactly what I was looking for.

Close to VIR, one of the most beautiful tracks in America.

I used to take my other MINI up to VIR from Durham for track days. Fun track. Went and watched some races there also. Got some free Corvette Racing Team swag one time.

I can’t speak to the city, but I’ve flown into their airport several times, and love it. My very first visit there, my sibling was on time to pick me up, and I was frustrated because I wanted more time to explore the concourse. Every other shop seemed to be a bookstore. At least four bookstores, and another that seemed to be a used bookstore. Lots of very well-done public art, also. Easy flow through to the baggage claim, and on to the car park. A great introduction to the state!
