And I'm not too concerned about BR traffic.

I hear people say that thinking they've driven in Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, or Chicago.

BR traffic frickING sucks.

Miami.

It's always good to hear other people's opinions, specially locals.

They really have almost everything you need now, less and less trips to Baton Rouge required

Schools are good but bursting at the seams, desperately need the new high school to open which is on target for 2024

I heard that SW Florida coast is getting expensive, too. Plus I've seen enough beaches and palm trees in my 35 years here. I'm looking for country and more land.

Why are you worried about the school system if you are going there to retire?

That's a pretty big component of property values.

I wouldn't buy a house in a crappy school district even if I didn't have kids in public school. And the bad ones always get worse.

Why on earth would you want to retire to a suburb?

Go somewhere with elevation, somewhere quiet and safe that fits your hobbies.

Grew up in Plantation and Cooper City. I miss taking normal roads to get to places in South Florida.

When you come to BR, you will either have to take I-10/I-12/Airline/Perkins and they will be a living HELL when the sun is out (peek my bio.)

I can understand why South Florida always had backed up traffic (massive population) but in BR, it blows my mind. Everyone suddenly has to be on the road at the same time to go only a few miles.

You WILL run out of stuff to do when you get here, unless that's something that doesn't bother you. I don't mind eating at the same restaurants, but I miss having almost a limitless supply of things to do/see in South Florida.

The people here are more genuine than Miami by lightyears. The nice are super nice, and the shitty ones are openly shitty instead of the scumbags in South Florida. Doesn't mean that people here are perfect, but I enjoy the good people here more than the good I've met in Florida.

Honestly, if you're already in South Florida, just drive north and retire as close as Delray Beach.

My uncle used to tell me the gates of Prairieville closed at 9pm.

He's lived there for years. He has a big arse house that was right by that new neighborhood they built there and his house value shot up bc of that. He's still working in finance though, so he's not retired there.

If you don't want much around and potentially good neighbors and rising house values, pville may be for you, but got damn it's boring af.

My stepmom developed several neighborhoods in Prairieville such as Seven Oaks. There has been tremendous growth over the last 30 years. It's been disproportionately residential though and the infrastructure hasn't kept up.
