Gonna be there the week of the fourth. Want to take the kids tubing and do some fishing. Staying 4 miles to the west of the dam. Only worried about having deep enough water to tube. The fishing is gonna be a low effort deal in the morning shade. Where does one tube?

Lake is plenty deep for tubing in most parts. It’s one of the better lakes in the area

Been there 4 times over the last ten years. It is great for tubing. May get a bit crowded in some areas on Saturday of that weekend but it is such a big lake you should be fine.

You will be able to take the kids tubing starting 10 feet from your dock....its a real lake. There is not a lake with a dam in the US you couldn't tube on

Never been there. I live next to a river with a dam and people get killed there because they aren’t familiar. Never pulled a tube in a lake. Just want to be familiar with the area. That’s all

Lake Mead, maybe? Unless you can dodge the bodies…

Lot's of big water down near the dam, especially on the Ga side. Be mindful of the marked humps in the area, the signs can sometimes be hard to see from certain angles and many of them rise up out of 80-100 ft of water to 2 ft in no time.

As far as fishing try fishing near some of the main lake points/humps with topwater at first light. Schooling activity is always possible from spotted bass, hybrids or stripers.

Good luck and be safe

Edit...I would suggest a quick gander at Google Earth to locate some of those underwater shoals/humps that can be boat wreckers

Really, really poor. I'd say you're normally better than this, but lately you're near the Mendoza line.

I live on Lake Hartwell, and it’s amazing. If you want to tube/ski, stay out of the main lake. If you want a calm boat ride, stay out of the main lake. Late evening, boat sec ride, main lake maybe ok as you can see approaching traffic from afar. In other words, main lake for sex only!
Just kidding, but it’s a Great Lake!!!

Tubing with the kids on the 4th, just be safe and watch out for idiots. I stay off the water 3 weekends per year and the 4th is one of them.

Also, if your boat has a tower, please don't pull tubes from the tower.

Go to the north end and tube around the area where keowee dumps into hartwell. Some of the most beautiful, cool water I’ve ever seen.

Sorry, normally I’d be all in for hanging out! Right now I’m in Hope Alaska and won’t be back at home till almost August. Get a copy ( look up online) and jUsr stay in the waters outside the main lake. Just a friendly reminder, if you have a high setting boat, PLEASE watch the clearance on some low bridges. Can’t begin to count of damaged tops I’ve seen on the lake.
