I used to stop in the True Value store. It was a nice place. Seems like Vinnie and Sherry owned it.

Lot of interesting comments in this thread.
I actually lived in Franklin in the late 70s and early 80s.
The mayor was a guy named Man and Chester Baudoin was the sheriff.
I had a lot of dealings with the community and the folks were really good but some of the people whose families had lived there for generations were really proud of who they were !
And some of the shady business practices were head scratchers.
The thing that got me the most was the lack of zoning… you had a nice home on one lot and a single wide next door.
Thanks for for the memories…

The other thing to remember is that forever a handful of people controlled how big Franklin would ever get. And by the time those people were gone or sold what they had off and moved out it was already to late for Franklin to grow.

Ugliest fricking courthouse in Louisiana

It's a close call between that courthouse and the Civil District Court in NOLA.

Courtesy of Sam Jones and Brett Allain, mostly the latter, but Sam Jones has a lot of political pull in the parish and in Baton Rouge.

Brett is gone but Robert is trying to fill his shoes but it won’t be easy against Swiber. Good luck to both of them, I like them both, unfortunately I can’t vote for either one but either one will do a good job.

There are people that live there and they can’t pronounce or spell it correctly. I rarely hear it pronounced correctly. And they will argue with you.

That's because he's from Centerville.

Lived in a farming community on the way to the Point, and went to school in Franklin. Left and never really came back, visit grandparents a few times. I went back recently and was schocked at how different things were.
