FAR from the worst town in Louisiana.

It’s alright. Rural. It’s 79% white if that means anything to you. Not totally isolated. You can be in LC quickly. Houston is an easy day trip. Coushatta casino isn’t far for entertainment. I’d live there over most other LA towns. You could certainly do worse. I’d say middle of the pack as far as small LA towns go

Worst or one of the worst has got to be some of those towns along the MS river in Central and NE Louisiana.

Ville Platte is pretty bad too. IMO

What if I told you...

The DeQuincy newspaper editor was a close family friend.

Never been though. I would imagine it is a nice mishmash of Leesville, Iowa, Oberlin, and DeRidder.

never Been there

reading up on it, it's in the same parish as LC which means it's close to the university, restaurants, casinos & a few hours from HOU

don't see how it you could call it the worst town in LA

New Llano > Leesville

Leesville is a complete shithole in every sense of the word.

DeRidder is way better than any of the other towns you mentioned. Way...way better IMO

Trust me it’s far from the worst. It might not be one of the best but I’d say it’s average. SWLA is a pretty good area overall. I spend a lot of time in Beauregard & Vernon parishes and they might lack a lot of development but the people are good, friendly people. It’s a very family friendly, church going, conservative vibe in SWLA.

Deridder is the best place to raise kids in that whole region IMO. it might be boring for young adults but if you have children you’ll stay busy. Good people

New llano is better lmao. They are the city with the nasty strip clubs, run down buildings and outdated bars. Leesville is not great but New Llano is far worse.

Not terrible. Know several people from wrok from you that way. Great guys.

Just south between them and sulphur is some nice areas to build or buy. Plenty of land. Quick south into LC and sulphur. Quick north to some decent leases. My deer lease is in fields and has quite a bit if game on there in a short drive.

Is the state juvenile prison still around there? That, Fausto’s, Nichols, and the railroad festival is what I remember.

From DeQuincy’s Wikipedia page:

quote:

The town has been the subject of numerous hoaxes by satirical writer Paul Horner, widely spread on the Internet. The hoaxes claim the town enacted bizarre legislation such as banning those of Korean descent, issuing handguns to school children, permitting bigamy, banning twerking, and the city being completely eradicated by zombies on bath salts.

quote:

Twerking is a defiant act against Jesus and his teachings. The rest of the country can keep their heads in the sand about this sexual act before marriage, but not the great city of DeQuincy
