CO Springs is great. Much better than Denver which is now overrun with prog whackos and homeless.

Honestly, I wouldn't live in the Springs or Denver.

My brother lived in the Black Forest (named for the trees and the view from Pikes Peak) and enjoyed it. Lots of families

Don't do it. But if you do, you want to live close to the AF Academy/Briargate. Stay away from anything close to Ft. Carson... it's a shite hole. For the most part, its relatively nice everywhere except for most of the places outside of Carson.

Rent, you're looking at 1,400-2,000 a month. Can't help with school districts, however I have heard the north part of the springs is pretty good.

This is all pretty accurate. Best schools are in the Briargate area (district 20). The only downside to that area is that the houses are right on top of one another. South part of town is also good, around the Broadmoor area.

Castle Rock is bad advice. It's a great town but it's going to be a really shitty commute because they're widening I-25 from Monument to CR. Construction going to last years.

I can't tell you much about Schriever because I don't have clearance. It's very high security.

Weather-wise, it's coldest in December and most of the snow comes in the late winter, early spring. Hail is definitely a problem in the summer. Make sure your roof is insured. Summers are hotter than you'd expect: high 80's or low 90's but humidity is lower. Usually June is really dry but then we start getting afternoon t-storms in July/August. Winters are very dry and my skin begs for humidity but that also makes it less brutal. A 50° day here is like a 60° day in La. It's very sunny and when it snows, it usually melts in a few days. Elevation is over 6,000' up to about 7,500' in Black Forest/Monument.

If you like outdoors, there is lots to do. Great hiking and biking trails around the area and there are even some very good trails in the city limits. Skiing is a couple of hours away. Nearest ski areas are Monarch and Breck. Vail, Keystone, A-Basin and Loveland aren't too far. Very good white water rafting on the Arkansas River.

Denver is a great city about an hour away. Other attractions: Pikes Peak, Mt. Evans, Rocky Mtn. Natl. Park, Royal Gorge, AF Academy, Garden of the Gods.

Spent a summer there for LSU geology fieldcamp. Beautiful area and easy travel to get to Denver. Seems to be majority military and hardcore religious types. Watch out for wildfires.

It’s going to be a bit expensive but if you can I would look into Castle Rock to the north. The south side of town is typically rough. Fountain is a good area, too.

Castle Rock is like an hour away. And the traffic between it and Colorado Springs can be outright atrocious.

That douche, Joe Kenda has retired, I think, so don't look for him.

For a town that size, CS sure has a lot of murders that were interesting enough to warrant an episode.

I visit there every year to see my best friend from grade school.

It’s beautiful. Tons to do outdoors.

Cost of living is rising. The South end of town seems sketch, but not like the shite you’d see in a place like BR. It’s has a large population, but you wouldn’t know it by spending time there. I’d say there’s close to half a million people living there now.

I’d move there if I could. That said, a teacher’s salary won’t get me far up there.

In the city limits, over 400,000. Over 700,000 in the area, including Fountain, Security, Widefield, Manitou, Black Forest, Falcon and Monument.

It’s a nice town. Kind of medium size, not too big or small. There’s some cool local spots to hang around and you’re not too far from the Rockies or Denver.

Very windy when I was there, not sure if that’s the norm or not.

This is the better part of the low rent district. A lot of Joes live there because they cannot afford anything better.

Moving there myself this summer.

With kids was told to look for a place in District 12 or District 20.

We are moving to the Cheyenne mountain area.

NO! WRONG!

The housing and school district on the west side of Carson, across HWY 115 is phenomenal. Cheyenne Mountain is the best, if you can afford it.

It's extremely windy at times - especially on the west side of town, west of I-25. We had a blizzard this year (which is rare) with 90+ mph winds. The weather is also quite variable. The local joke is that you can get four seasons all in one day.
