Place is a dump. Work there if you need to, do NOT reside there. From what I see you work in the medical field? Imagine the absolute worst hospital you've spent time at, that's nothing compared to the people and facilities in Chalmette.

Chalmette could be a neighborhood of New Orleans. I hate living in the New Orleans area, but there are plenty of good options that have already been mentioned. You could live Uptown or Lakeview and have an easy commute.

Take the money and live somewhere nearby. Either east in Slidell or west in New Orleans/Metairie

Don't let these wisenheimers deter you. Chalmette is the next big gentrification frontier.

That isn't true. There are far worse places that surround Chalmette.

How is it living there? Good place for a family?

Seriously Clark? The place is disgusting and the people are like Jersey Shore caricatures. Run Ronnie, Sitch, Snookie and the fat girl through a Marshall amp cranked to 11 and hopped up on molly and ecstasy.

It's bad enough to have to drive through, but live there? No way. There are some nice looking newer subdivisions priced temptingly (it's a trap). Even if you get a nice house, you are going have to deal with neighbors, people at the grocery store, all from Chalmette. Imagine Harvey or Westwego but worse.

On top of that, if you buy, the floods are coming.

There is literally no upside to moving to Chalmette.

Ok, so working and not living in Chalmette is an option. What are the good areas nearby (30 minutes or so away)? I also have an offer in LaPlace. It doesn’t pay quite as much but it is a possibility.

And I’d like to add that the OT has one hell of a memory. You frickers don’t forget anything.

It’s a butt of many jokes. Not as many as Bawcomville though.

You're a MD right? I call on MD's every day throughout the state. DO NOT take this job!

this is probably every other small town in the state, but none of them are right down the street from NOLA

And it being in the back of NOLA persay affects it. Its not like we're on the road to somewhere else.

Slidell is a decent option just be careful in there too, do some research. It's been changing for the worse since 05 when all those chalmations washed up there with the high tide.

Laplace is far more of a shite hole than Chalmette but it's easy to get there from the freeway. You can get from nola to laplace in 30 mins easy.

Chalmette is a trap.
