The problem is that it's implemented in the laziest way possible, which is to say if the judge or DA has the discretion not to lock someone up, they simply won't or will otherwise give an extremely light sentence, even for serial and violent offenders.

This is in reference to the fact that the murder suspect in the OP was stealing cars prior to this murder and had a record.

The new progressive DAs are giving slaps on the wrist because of "muh systemic oppression" and shockingly it's not reducing crime.

Moving to Madison this summer, so this story has piqued my interest.

Did some facebook sleuthing - thoughts:
1) daughter looks like she was adopted.
2) if you're about to get locked up, seems like you should deactivate your facebook - his is full of random people talking shite.
