Well, we had a story yesterday about a guy letting off 41 warning shots at the Verizon guy.
Seems people are quick to shoot these days.

No one reads the articles before forming their opinions on the OT
Nope. But they will be quick to take a look at the picture and pass judgment in a New York second.

Oh, what's that?

It's like kids driving for the first time, they have no clue how to get anywhere. They never pay attention. Riding a bus, even less.
My 15 yr old is a straight A Honor student in hs and couldn't tell you how to get from home to the HS.
My 9 yr old always knows where we are in town with just a quick look for landmarks. Granted I keep her sharp and it's a game for us.
But generally, It's hit or miss on kids who actually care and pay attention to that stuff.

I have made mine figure it out with some guidance. Have to learn how to navigate.

I'm old fart and cynical as they come, and I do profile like a paranoid mo-fo, I admit...but damn, if that is a pic of the kid in the OP, I really don't see him as some sort of gang banging thug and wouldn't feel threatened initially by the kid. I would have my pistol concealed, but hell, looking at that kid I would have offered him a ride to school.

It's been 30 years and people in Michigan are still dressing like Axel Foley.

As others have mentioned the story from the student is a bit odd.
1) He lives far enough from school that he takes the bus?
2) But he lives close enough that he was going to walk because he missed the bus?
3) He is the only 13 year old in America who doesn't have a cell phone that he can punch the school name into and follow google maps? What was he planning to do, write down the directions this random stranger was going to have? It amazes me that in today's day and age, people need to ask strangers for directions.
I guess you can't teach common sense (to the homeowner either)

Why is that so unsual? If you live over a mile away there’s going to be a bus route in your neighborhood, but any HS kid can walk that. My daughter has missed the bus a couple of times and just walked to school.

Story says right in the beginning that mom took his phone prior to this event for some disciplinary reason.
EDIT: And no, not all 13yo kids have cell phones.

Know how I know you didn't read the article?

Guilty as the homeowner.

This is your first thought after reading that a 14 year old kid was shot at for asking directions? It blows my mind that a good number of people can read these articles/replies and still claim that racism isn't alive and well.

It blows my mind that people like you read what I said and immediately assumed racism. Your assumption just revealed your racism

Unfortunately, it doesn't blow my mind. While this situation seems to be against the homeowner (if he is wrong, fry his arse). Several on this board want to cry racism way too much. Trash is trash, no matter the skin tone. People need to quit being blindly loyal to a pigment and work on making society as a whole better but I doubt that happens. It's easier to sit back and play the victim over and over.

Honest question, do you truly think that this incident had nothing to do with race?

I don't see that happening in this thread, unless you are talking about the one or two posters defending the homeowner

Could have been, once again, every skin tone has trash. The young man in this story was not in the wrong, at all in this situation from what I read.
