That's simply not true, I would have called bullshite on anyone for not knowing how to get to their school. It's hard to believe someone shot at a kid for asking for directions, but I guess it happened. OP should have added there was video of the incident.

I have students that don’t know their address. I have students that can’t point in the direction their parents take them after school. They don’t know mom’s phone number in case of an emergency. Some of them can’t spell, or even write in complete sentences. Telling them to capitalize proper nouns is a daily thing.

Combine that with the fact that people use GPS to get to a familiar location down the street. I won’t hold it against the kid.

None of this surprises me at all, and shouldn’t surprise anyone who knows enough teenagers.

We’re just really reliant on phones now and kids are even more so. Nobody knows phone numbers or addresses by heart. Autocorrect has made people’s spelling absolutely atrocious (myself included) and it’s quite common that people don’t know how to get to places unless their phone tells them.

It honestly never occurred to me that the kid might have been lying because it sounds exactly like what most of my kid’s friends would say if they had to walk to the cluster HS.
