TEDx Talks - How do people actually enjoy them?

People often refer to the TEDx talks as being thought inspiring...

But I find them to be very theoretical and only cover the basic concepts of an idea that no information is new or can be applied to practical life.

For example I just watched a TEDx talk on attraction, and all it was is a guy talking for 12 minutes on how agreeing with someone makes them like you more.

Well no shite Sherlock...

Anyone know of presentations/talks that are actually useful?

Tbh I have never enjoyed listening to a ted talk either so if someone can point me in the direction of a good one, I would be very thankful.

Maybe this is the type of person TEDx talks are catered to...

It doesn't take 20 minutes to make a thought provoking point.

The video titles would draw me in on youtube. But I usually get bored after 3 minutes because the substance is kind of weak.

This is one I saved years ago so it must have been worth something.

My Stroke of Insight

Nowadays most Ted Talks are really just parodies of themselves. Very meta.

Being a space geek from my (very long ago) childhood days, I enjoyed this one with retired Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield. He also did a youtube video from the ISS where he covered David Bowie's Space Oddity. LINK

Depends on the issue. My firm has internal specialized Ted Talks like events. They’re useful to see what’s happening on the other side of the company that you didn’t know about.

TED talks can range from something really good to some fat chick bitching about fat phobia. It's a werid range

I’m not sure everyone posting in this thread is clear on this distinction.

You sound like one of those people who experience things for the sole purpose of disliking them. Sad.
