But I find them to be very theoretical and only cover the basic concepts of an idea that no information is new or can be applied to practical life.

Sounds like a failure of your imagination. Not uncommon in today's college students, who want to be told exactly what to do in order to make the grade. Continual source of frustration for me.

Take a big idea and run with it. For the love of god please think beyond the instructions.

I've enjoyed a few of the talks I've seen...

The online shaming Ted Talk is one of the GOATs. Oh and hey, it has a "practical application": Don't fricking online shame people. Not that complicated. Not that theoretical. Doesn't take a lot of imagination to get it.

When people put “thanks for coming to my ted talk” after some social media rant, man I really don’t like those people

Could you imagine the big ideas of the 20th Century being written off like this?

DNA? Too theoretical.
Theory of relativity? Only covers the basic concepts.
Computer networks? No practical applications for my life.

One of the better ones I have seen.

TedX is terrible in comparison.

Hey, did you know that smiling at people makes them like you more?

Ok go use your imagination now to realize how oblivious you sound to the point of the OP.

Not all of them are good. That doesn't mean that all of them are bad.

That was an incredible watch, until the end.

She basically advocates following the right side of the brain that lives in the moment and values idyllic peace and euphoria. That's great.

But, to ignore all previous observations and lessons learned is to live in ignorance, delusion, and danger. That's not a great survival skill.

Our two-sided brain sets us up us with constant choices, because contemplating something is more advantageous than always choosing one side of the brain over the other..

Stupid ending.

I had a professor who loved to show Ted Talks

There was a really boring one during a certain class and I thought it would be funny to voice my displeasure by ripping a giant fart

Not many people found the humor
