Canales pleaded guilty under Article 894, a state law that allows people to admit guilt and later expunge the arrest if certain conditions are met, according to court records.

Did she blow the DA or something?

Sounds like the prosecutors did a shitty job and enterd a plea with this woman becuase they claim to have weak evidence. Not sure what the judge is suppose to do if he's not presented with enough evidence and they offered the plea deal.

Family seems to believe they had substantial evidence

Judge Nancy Miller

Wow, a female judge gave a female convict a sweet deal that a male would have been hammered for. Who'dve thunk it?

Canales attorney, Bruce Netterville, applauded prosecutors who he said realized the evidence just was not there.

"It never happened," Netterville said. "The alleged victim denied it before the arrest and after the arrest. It's horrible that this young woman had to tolerate what happened to her."

So one side says the evidence is strong, and the other side says it never happeend and acts like the accused is actually a victim.

I'm not sure how you can blame the judge on this one. Seems like the DA didn't get enough evidence.

quote:

“If this was vice versa, a male teacher and a little girl, things would be different," Ulmer said. "I feel the sexual assault of a little boy by a grown woman is seen as a badge of honor in our society. It’s not. It’s sick and sad and disgusting."

I don't think anyone feels that way about a 12 year old. Maybe they feel that way about a 17 year old or maybe a 16 year old. 12? Absolutely not.

The DA needs to answer for this one.

This shite is getting out of control.

Treat her like any other child molester.

And it will be expunged from her record, likely meaning she will not have to report as sex offender...

The plea sounds like it was contributing to the delinquency of a minor. So expunged or not, I believe the charged offense is not one that would have her register.
