The condition is caused by a mutation in the FM03 gene, which helps break down trimethylamine. Without it, the compound builds up, causing a fish-like odor.

Can't she just avoid eating this?

quote:

Trimethylamine (present in milk obtained from wheat-fed cows) and its precursors including choline (present in eggs, liver, kidney, peas, beans, peanuts, soya products, and brassicas [Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower]), lecithin and lecithin-containing fish oil supplements; Trimethylamine N-oxide (present in seafood [fish, cephalopods, and crustaceans]);

TMA is the substance mainly responsible for the odor often associated with rotting fish, some infections, bad breath and can be a cause of vaginal odor due to bacterial vaginosis.

That's like calling a pregnant woman fat.

You just don't go there. There's no coming back.

I’d tell her husband to PIIHH
(Put it in her halibut)

She casted about for years, angling for a solution to her lurid problem.

She smelt of smelt.

We had a lady in one of our departments that had a horrible smell that followed her everywhere she went. Turned out she was taking an abundance of garlic supplements. I sure didn't want to be any part of that HR meeting with her to discuss her "scent".

She had to know she reeked, right?

Apparently not until she was told. It was pretty bizarre for a while.

A conversation may go like this, chicken or fish?

There was a good Chicken of the Sea joke that you missed, Willy.

Damn, I definitely wouldn't have wanted to be HR in this situation.

It would smell like fish - like if you were catching fish and you pulled one out of the water.
Fishing would be a lot less popular if the fish actually smelled like rancid, rotten vagina when being pulled right out the water

Napoleon supposedly asked his mistress, a woman named Josephine, not to bathe for either one, three, or five days while he was on his way back from a military campaign because he purportedly enjoyed the way she smelled when she hadn't bathed.

Shameless MLM promotion. $10 says fish lady is an "independent consultant" for that crap.

This pic says it all. Her son is squinting b/c the smell is so bad. I can imagine what he's saying in his mind..."Holy shite, my mom smells like a rotten catfish. I wonder how dad is able to stand her stank arse."

I was told HR had a internal meeting on how to approach her with this. She was a very good and long time employee so this had to be handled delicately.
