Teacher takes phone away, gets assaulted

This hits close to home. Wife, no pics, is a teacher. Cell phones in class are a HUGE problem. She has taken away many of them. Kids flip out and lose their mind. Her class policy is first offense, get it back at end of period, second offense, get it back end of day, third offense she brings to office and the parent has to come get it from the office.
She has had parents call her up and curse her out, she has had parents come to school and curse out the principals, etc, all over cell phones. No parent has ever threatened violence, yet.
This is also why, now whenever she has to have a parent come in for a discipline issues, she always makes one of the school administrators sit in on the situation as well.
This mom and dad need to rot in jail. Hopefully there is someone else in the family that can raise the kid.

If your kid is using the phone in class... you would be against the teacher?
When you sign up your kid for school... it's right there in the conduct policy that noone reads.
Don't like it? Home school the kid.

If there is an emergency situation that requires me to get in touch with my son, I will call his phone. If a teacher turns a phone into the office, I would not be able to get in touch with him.
Why do only high school teachers get so bent out of shape about phones? If you are playing a game that makes noises that disrupts the class, sure I could see taking action. But just because a kid is texting or browsing something, that is not disrupting the class, whats the big deal? Are they just butthurt because the kid isn't paying attention to them?

So, Dude, you think teachers should try to teach disinterested students while they use their cell phones in class? This kind of thinking is why public schools are such a mess today.

God forbid if you had to raise a kid prior to 2000. Call the fricking school and they will notify your kid if there is an emergency. Our school systems are fricked up enough and churning out enough dumbasses without also turning a blind eye to kids actively playing around on phones during class time.
