Donna Brit appreciation...not really
I know there have been many different opinions on the quality of media coverage of the events of the last few days, so discuss them here.
I believe national coverage has been poor. What is talked about is vague and the same clip of David Phung led rescue keeps playing over and over again. I guess the destruction wasn't wide-spread enough or the death toll high enough to warrant more attention.
I only caught glimpses of coverage from the Weather Channel, but I understand that they were the only ones who gave significant national coverage. Of course, they live for this stuff - they almost get giddy reporting from disaster areas.
Local coverage from the New Orleans stations was not much better. Vague on details and again the same rescue clips are shown. A little more information was gleamed as far as major road closures, etc.
I did watch a mix of WAFB/WBRZ coverage online, and it was decent. I would have appreciated more INFORMATION and not just rescue stories. They've seem to have become better about provided needed information in the last day or so. There has been a lot of Donna Britt hate here. I really didn't pay much attention to her until last night. She seemed pretty giddy like she had drunk a couple of gallons of coffee, or daiquiris, while he co-anchor seemed exhausted.
My father listened to WJBO a lot, and seemed satisfied with the information they provided. Without visual distractions, I guess radio is best for providing the hard information. My father is not an internet guy, and would not have a clue what or where to look for information online.
In the end, however, Tiger Droppings was THE go-to place for information. You guys had it all - reports from boots on the ground who made their rounds, and from observers posting from their homes and neighborhoods. Things were then posted and numbers crunched by the resident scientists. It reminded me of the pre-internet days when my father obtained better information from his ham radio network than from the media.
The next best thing for getting information was picking out the nuggets of info from the police scanner.

Whom ever was just on wbrz was pretty good looking. Definitely date worthy.

I am absolutely sick to death of the TV coverage. It is providing a service, I realize that. But when Greg Merriwether or Matt Williams start doing improvised commentary I just want to blow my brains out.

WAFB did a great job. Lauren Westbrook & Matt Williams were on most of the time and they provided accurate information when they received it, but they had to fill space with stories, such as rescues, etc. This thread sucks.

Need to put her out to pasture. It was actually uncomfortable watching her.
TD was BY FAR the best news source. It was so far ahead of anything else, you didn't need to watch or listen to anything on TV/radio. I don't think the news said a single thing about back flow until after it had been happening for ~12-24hrs

You gotta appreciate the fact that she's kept the same 'do for the last three-to-four decades. Something to be said for consistency.

She's like a confused grandma that they let hang around the station because no one has the heart to tell her she has no business being in front of a camera.

Since you asked, I suggest you find a photo of Milo and fap to that.

WAFB needs to get the George Sells/Donna Britt Band back together for this. That would be some good TV.

I swear to God I think this guy is trying to make himself cry at times without making it looked forced....Lauren is the GOAT...

Williams and Westbrook did good.
Merriweather did the best he could do trying to keep Donna Britt straight.
Where was Andre Moreau? He is the lead anchor and I saw him in Baton Rouge yesterday so I don't think he was on vacation. His absence was so apparent that I went to the WAFB web site to see if he was still employed there.
PS....Donna Britt did well in her day but today, throw anything at her that is unscripted and it is rather uncomfortable to watch.

Not even the DUIs could keep me from marrying Lauren Westbrook.

I would quit my job to watch this if it happened...

Are you Donna Britt's husband?
Posted on 8/16/16 at 1:32 pm to TheFonz
She seemed overwhelmed, dazed and confused. Reminded me a lot of Maw Maw Blanco after Katrina except she had this macabre grin the whole time instead of crying and handwringing. Lauren and Matt and their field people did well. I can't watch WBRZ if it means even 10 seconds of Pat Singelton. What a dolt. Another one that needs to hang it up. I'd say alcohol has fried his brain but he's always been that way.

WAFB employees are part of a union. I would think that is why Britt continues to have a job. Some type of tenure or something.
