tried it. failed. get a plumber. it'll happen every 6-12 months so get used to it.

Turn off the heater (or put it in descale mode, if it has that), shut off the water valves, connect the pump and outflow hose, fill the bucket with your vinegar or descale solution, turn the pump on and make sure the outflow hose is spitting back into the bucket.
Youtube has some good videos with easier to follow steps.

Not often. I did mine after 3 years and there was almost no cloudiness in the bucket after it ran.

I wasn't aware either. I just built a house with one, and put in a softener system. I guess I'll plan on doing mine in 3 years or so.

I'm an idiot when it comes to DIY projects and I figured it out, watch a youtube video or two. You can buy a tankless flush kit online for like $140 or split it with someone else who needs one. Its pretty easy even if you don't have the valves.
