Take the plate off and they'll never catch me, right?

Youtube vid.
Guy drives into a convenience store. Apparently can't back out so rips the plate off his truck and walks out.
Must say, the video quality out of the surveilance cam is finally pretty good.

That's up there with the idiots who flee police, heading to their driveway, as though they'll be "safe at home."

They will run the VIN and be able to find him. Should have picked up some beer while he was there.
Why don't banks have cameras like this ?

He would have had a better chance if he pulled his hoodie over his head, stuck his hands in his pockets and calmly walked away from the sound of the sirens.

To be fair, if he left the plate the first officer on the scene would be able to find him easily. Is running a VIN just as easy? I honestly don’t know?

He's still on the gas when his rear tire hits the curb. "Screw it, I'm goin' in!!!"

Depends on how they set up their system, but I would think that the search function in the terminal in the car, or the guy at the station keying it in, should be able to pull back the VIN about as easy as the plate.

It maybe takes an extra 30 seconds, only because it has more letters and numbers. That's it though.
Ole baw would have been better off shotgunning a few beers while he waited for the cops to show up.

Hide from the cameras and try to say someone stole the truck was his only shot

was he trying to smash and grab? because damage to truck was 1000x more then anything he could steal so...... why?

I always imagine they yell "BASE" right before they get tased on the doorstep.
