why?

It seems perfectly fine to travel this morning as long as you don't drive like an idiot, granted that's everyday. I saw the school boards closed all schools for Tuesday and Wednesday when it was first announced Monday during lunch time. That doesn't make sense either.

close everyday because someone may drive like an idiot then

the conditions are no worse than they are 1 or 2 times a week on average (no worse than rain)

It is hard for busses to drive on ice with 50 liabilities riding. many parishes have more rural roads that aren't safe. The reasoning for canceling on Mon is to give parents a heads up and begin making plans. It's got to be much easier to cancel a day or two of school than fight lawsuits from a bus wreck or kids stuck overnight on a bus.

Yea. It seems perfectly safe to drive a school bus full of loud mouth kids around this morning with drivers that aren't used to ice.

Are you serious?

The roads are way more iced over this morning than they were yesterday morning. It will thaw out today unlike yesterday but it's still very bad.

Why does it bother you? Because you don't have a babysitter or something?

It's become cool to hate on closings for some reason. The OTer's are all badasses who open their companies rain, sleet, or shine.

to make it easier for you to make appropriate accommodations for your kids.

in Calcasieu we still have a lot of iced over roads and 210 is shut down last i checked. i10 bridge is always a threat to shut down as well, which would frick up a lot of shite. west of the lake there are a ton of roads having issues and getting kids to school would be a chore

Cameron Parish is probably a total shite show and they don't have the infrastructure on a normal day

today is more dangerous than yesterday, and yesterday COULD have been a shite show. today was always teh real worry

This is my question. Why are you so upset that the kids are able to stay home today?

Ice is no worse than rain?

I have a different opinion on that

Right so that means no roads have ice. Good thinking
