Yeah and it’s a very dumb take to have. They’re very much musicians just like a guitarist or pianist.

Okay I'll use my favorite DJ, DJ Trashy (Jones LOVES him). He's considered a Vocal Breaks or Gulfcoast Breaks DJ as this style is most popular from Lake Charles to Tampa.
This song Set Free is 100% his creation. It's on Spotify. He would come up with the beats, layers, and vocals with a buddy like DJ Tekk or two. Then he would hire a female(Ashley Buxton was often his goto) to come in studio and record the vocals. Then he'd work on it and tune it, try it several styles etc.

Then in cases like Close my Eyes, his most recognized song, he paid to be able to sample and remix the original from Astroline, and it was a huge hit for him. You will here his version at every Spanish Town and St Pats parade in BR as well as before a 5k Race with a DJ. It's shite load better than the original and It's clean and catchy.
astroline - close my eyes

dj trashy - close my eyes

My son's taekwondo class played this song one time during their circuit drills (like crossfit).
dj trashy - turning out the lights

Hey I gave Nola boy props for playing at Burning Man last year.
You like shitty Drum and bass and I like Angellic Vocal Breaks.

See kids. Not all Edm is the same. But we all agree to be happy about the death of dubstep

I like DJ trashy.

Well, I mean i’ve Heard him and been to see him live and it was enjoyable.

Your explanation is a bit more understandable.

I figured there was more to it. I can remember jamming in high school to “la la la la la” and all that.

I guess a lot of techno artists just didn’t all have DJ in front of their name then.

It's a matter of that there has to be a few people who are considered the best or top in their field vs. the people who have more talent and ambition becoming the best.

Man, this one bums me out. Avicii has long been one of my favorite DJs. I had the pleasure to see some bangin shows he headlined all over the place.

RIP, gone way too soon

Or maybe bagpipe player, or bongo drums, or recorder. Lots of diverse, awesome instrument choices. Can't say that one is better than the other.

He made Coldplay sound better than they were. He had an excellent studio ear.

RIP.
